St Brigid's Lunch

  • The Darling Downs Irish Club members and friends come together to celebrate St Brigid's Day.
  • This usually takes place on the first Sunday in February.
  • A female guest speaker joins us for lunch

St Patrick's Day Parade

  • A Saint Patrick's Day Parade is held each year, usually the Sunday closest to 17 March.
  • An entourage of Darling Downs Irish Club members and friends parade through the main streets of Toowoomba.
  • Starts usually at 10.30am departing from and returning to the hotel.
  • Led by a music band and Saint Patrick.
  • Come and join the fun, and show your Irish, wear your green.

Bloomsday

  • Bloomsday is a commemoration and celebration of the life of Irish writer James Joyce, observed annually around the world usually on 16 June, the day his 1922 novel Ulysses takes place in 1904. It is based on his first outing with his wife-to-be, Nora Barnacle, and named after its protagonist Leopold Bloom.
  • The Darling Downs Irish Club community gather at the James Joyce seat and listen to a reading from Ulysses.
